If the rotors measure within spec – thick enough, with no excessive runout – yes, and I’ll show you the numbers. But BMW rotors are deliberately soft for performance, and they often wear out with the pads. Putting fresh pads on worn rotors causes noise, pulsation, and short pad life. I measure first and recommend honestly.

My brake warning light is on but the brakes feel fine. Is it urgent?

The light usually means a wear sensor has tripped – you still have pad life left, but it’s counting down. Don’t ignore it for months: once the pads wear through, you’re into rotors and possibly calipers. Get it checked soon and it’s a straightforward job.

How often does brake fluid really need flushing?

BMW specifies every two years, and it’s one of the most skipped services there is. Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air; that moisture lowers the boiling point and corrodes calipers and ABS components from the inside. It’s cheap insurance for the most important safety system on the car.
