I’m Dave Garcia, owner and master technician at Hyperformance Garage. I service 1996 and newer Porsches, and brake work is routine work in my shop: pads, rotors, wear sensors, and fluid checks, done carefully and checked twice. You get a written quote with the problem, the fix, and the cost before anything starts, and I give you a firm timeline with that quote.
What a Porsche brake service includes
- Brake pad replacement with OEM or better parts
- Rotor inspection and measurement, replaced or resurfaced only if needed
- Wear sensor replacement with the pads
- Brake fluid level check and condition check
- Caliper and brake line inspection while the wheels are off
- Road test to confirm pedal feel and stopping performance
My process
- I road test the car and listen for what you described: squeal, vibration, a soft pedal, or a dash warning.
- I measure pad thickness and rotor condition at all four corners and check the fluid.
- You get a written quote before I touch anything: the problem, the fix, and the cost, spelled out. No surprises and no pressure.
- I replace what’s worn, torque everything to spec, and bed the pads properly.
- Every job leaves with a written report and photos, so you can see exactly what was done.
FAQ
How do I know my Porsche needs brakes?
The usual signs are squealing, a vibration when you brake, a brake warning on the dash, or a pedal that feels soft or travels too far. I measure everything before I quote, so you’re not paying for a guess.
Do the rotors always need to be replaced with the pads?
No. I measure rotor thickness and condition. If they’re within spec and the surface is good, the pads go on and the rotors stay. If they’re worn or scored, I’ll show you and quote the replacement.
What about brake fluid?
I check the fluid level and condition with every brake service. If a fluid exchange is due, I quote it separately and show you why.
Is brake work covered by your warranty?
Qualifying repairs are backed by my 24-month/24,000-mile warranty, in writing on the invoice.
What does your free quote include?
Diagnosis is part of the quote. I inspect the brakes, tell you what’s actually worn, and give you the price before any work starts. There is no separate diagnostic fee.
